New Site Coming Soon!

I have decided to pursue an idea I had a few years back.  I bought the domain name this morning, and hope to start doing the planning, design, and programming in the next few months in my off time.

The site will be an all golf site, with a lot of fun features.  Too many to list here, but keep an eye out for the site launch.

Living without Regret

It’s been a while since my last Blog post, and for that I apologize.  However, I feel that I would share this thought with the few that actually read this blog.

Last night, I was not feeling the greatest, so I took some aspirin and went to bed early, and I mean early.  It was like 8:00pm.

As I lay there in my bed, I said a prayer, kinda the usual I am sorry for my sins, please forgive me for being selfish, etc.”  but afterwards I was restless.  I could not get comfortable, to save my life, and my mind was racing about everything.

I finally calmed myself down and a thought came across my mind.  And that is, “The secret to living a fulfilling happy life on this earth, is to live with minimal regret.”  Why? I don’t know, but as I pondered this thought, I applied the theory (thought) to my past and thought of,  if I had this mindset, I beleive my life here would be much more complete, happy and less stressful.

With any decision that you make, think this:

“Will I regret this action in the future if I do it?  Or will I regret not doing it?”

If the answer is “Yes” to either, than you have your answer on what you should do or not do  in that situation.

I also began thinking, what regrets do I have in my life.  Can any of those decisions be reversed?  No, nothing done can be undone, but they can however be forgiven.  These bad decisions also build our character and make use who we are today.  Wisdom comes from mistakes.

But in the future, I plan to think more about decisions with this question.  I believe if we all take the time to ask it before making decisions, we will all be much happier with our choices in life.

If you ask the question, and do not know the answer, take the time to pray about your decision.  God speaks to us through our hearts. He wants to give you the answer.  But sometimes his answer is not what we want to hear. But remember he knows why.  He knows there is something better in store in your future.

These are just my thoughts, written down.  By no means is this to be taken as the secret to life.  We all have our own opinions, but this makes sense to me so I will do my best to apply it.

4th Annual Frosty Balls Golf Invitational!

This past weekend marked the 4th Annual Frosty Balls Golf Invitational!

I, along with a great group of guys, go up to Nothern Bay Golf Resort in Arkdale, WI for the weekend.  Play a round of golf on a great Replica Golf Course ( replica holes of some great PGA Courses around the US).  Relax and enjoy a weekend away.

This year we had BEAUTIFUL weather in the high 70′s with a slight breeze, which made the challenging day of golf exceptional!

We had great steaks made by Curt, a few (maybe a few too many) drinks,  and lots of laughs!

This is the event I look forward to every year, and already can’t wait till next year.  Hopefully next year we will have a few more players.

I played the worse out of the group, shooting a 97, and my prize is the “not so coveted” FBI Beaver.  Which will be in my bag till next year!

If any of you guys want to get away with us next year, let me know, we are starting plans for  next year’s event!

Company Mobile Web Site Complete

The mobile version of my Employer’s website is now complete.  (http://mobile.roundhouse-marketing.com)

The site was designed to look best on the iPhone, however through testing, the new mobile website looks great on Android and other mobile phones as well.

I have placed code into the main (desktop) version of the site to check if the viewer’s browser is mobile, anf if detected, to automatically redirect to the mobile version.  From the mobile version the viewer can also view the full version of the site.

Detecting Mobile Web Browsers (VB.net)

After creating the mobile version of my employer’s website, I needed to be able to detect the browser when someone hit the main page, in order to redirect them to the mobile version if they were using a smart-phone etc.

I was able to find examples in other languages, but as someone that uses VB specifically I thought it would be good to post the sample code here.  For my own future reference or if anyone else was looking for the code, and could not convert from C# or other language.

This is the Code for VB.NET.  I have tested and is proven to work.

Prayer 9-24-2011

Lord,

Hear the cry of my soul tonight. I don’t have the words to express the pain I feel after losing the one I thought was from you.

I am sorry for trying to take the wheel and not letting you drive. You know the path of my future, and who I am to be with. Give me the strength and patience to wait on you.

Be with Liz tonight, hear her prayers. Give her peace with her decision. She has been through a lot and I am so happy that she has found you and you have been working in her life. Continue to heal her heart and guide her future lord.

I don’t know what our future holds but I trust you.

Help me to live more like you each day. Let me not continue to fall into my sinful addictions. Give me peace tonight so that I may rest and be strong tomorrow.

Welcome!

Welcome to the best blog you have ever read!

Well, that may be a bit of a stretch, but I am sure that there will be some posts that you will like and even love, and others that you will merely think to yourself, “I am now dumber for having read that.”

I have to thank my sister-in-law and brother for the idea of a blog.  Sure, I have played with the idea once or twice, but never have stuck with it an continued to update the blog.  This will not serve as my main website, that can be found at www.chopsport.com, but here if people choose to come this far, is where people will be able to get to know me as a person.

I plan to try and record my dreams as they come to me.  I have prayed that God will return my gift of dream back to me.  As a child / teen I had many dreams symbolizing the battle of Christ and the evil one over my soul.  Now I hope to have more return in the night.

I also want to start writing love letters to my future wife.  I am not sure who that is right now, though sometimes I think I have a pretty good idea who it will be, but until that day is for certain I will write her letters and record them here.

Other ideas for writings will just be thoughts, complaints (kidding), prayers, etc.
